Full-Time Public Safety Dispatcher Posting Date: July 17,2024
The Strafford County Sheriff's Office is seeking candidates for the position of Full Time Public Safety Dispatcher. The Strafford County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center is a 24/7 operation primarily dispatching Law Enforcement, Fire, and/or EMS for the Sheriff’s Office and 9 towns within Strafford County. The Communications Center dispatches approximately 100,000 calls for service each year. This is a great opportunity to serve your community and be one of the first, first responders.

Candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Eighteen years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work a varied work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Able to successfully pass a thorough background examination.
• Able to successfully complete a training program.
• Possess advanced typing skills.
• Able to remain calm and effectively retain and communicate information in emergency situations
• Must not have any felony convictions.
• Proficient in computer use.
• Previous emergency dispatch experience is preferred but not required.

Qualified interested candidates will take part in the following process:

• Oral interview related to attitude, judgment, leadership, self-expression, education experience and regular attendance.
• Written test consisting of 70 questions that will take approximately two hours to complete. The test will measure the critical skills of listening comprehension, problem- solving, multitasking and composure under stress.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on the following dates. RSVP required.

Session 1- Tuesday August 13th from 1300 to 1900
Session 2- Thursday August 15th from 1000 to 1600
